About
My name is Mary Kay McCleve. I purchased my first Chow in April of 1997. She was black and we named her Tika. She had some attributes of the chow breed, but not very many. She could be stubborn and was very smart, but that is where her chow personality ended. When the door bell rang, it was all about Tika. “Pet me! Pet me! Pet me!” She never met a stranger that she did not think was her best friend. As you know, chows usually keep their distance from those they do not know, acting lordly and aloof.
After a year passed, we thought it was high time to get her a playmate. I drove to Ohio and purchased a dark red male that was almost 1-1/2 years old at the time. His name is Timba, but we call him Tim. He is getting ready to turn 12 years old in a few months. Tim is a little more standoffish around new people, but he has a very gentle, sweet spirit about him.
Now almost 12 years later, I have 14 chows. I love my dogs and love the breed. Right now, I seem to be having a run on black chows. Out of my 14, seven are black! My most prized chow of all is CH Creole’s Fannie May. Fannie is living with Amy Young of Rio Chows right now, who is loving, showing, and spoiling her. And yes, of course, Fannie is black. She is a wonderful show dog and great companion. Look for Fannie at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in February 2009.
I feel very blessed as I have had very few health issues with my chows (knock on wood!). I am a strong believer in health clearances as you can see by visiting the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and searching “Creole.” I am by no means considered a large volume breeder, but I do have a couple litters a year. My pups are available to show and pet homes. Please feel free to call me any time regarding my chows or pups.
Thanks for visiting my web site and may God bless you!!!!
